After three decades in San Francisco, my sense of the city thinned out and sharpened, simultaneously. Famous landmarks & neighborhoods eventually reduced to mere coordinates - existing in a vacuum with me alongside them.
The camera ceased to be a tool and became my better half. After thousands of photographs - for reasons I never grasped - something just felt right.
No longer simply photographing the city, I gradually began absorbing it - through the lens, through the people, through the evolution, and through repetition.
